More Information

The Health Certificate is a document required by the Puerto Rico Department of Health for employees in industries such as food service, healthcare, education, and others where public health could be affected. It certifies that the employee does not have communicable diseases that could pose a risk in their work environment.

Health Certificate

Includes: Medical examination, VDRL to detect Syphilis, Tuberculin test, and Hepatitis C test.

For those working with food, we will perform a throat culture.

How is the Health Certificate obtained?

The process generally involves two visits:

  • Visit 1: Medical evaluation, VDRL blood test (to detect Syphilis), Hepatitis C test, and PPD skin test (tuberculin test for tuberculosis). For food handlers, throat culture is also performed.
  • Visit 2 (48-72 hours later): Reading of the PPD test reaction by a healthcare professional.

If all results are negative, the Health Certificate is issued.

Why is it important?

  • Compliance with health regulations.
  • Protection of public health by preventing the spread of diseases.
  • Ensuring a safe work environment for employees and customers.
